Nvidia's Geforce Now game streaming service is gaining visibility among mobile gamers as it is the only one that offers the option of games with Ray Tracing (RTX) activated on smartphones.
Ray Tracing is a technology that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to draw graphics that emulate the light rays of games in real time. The method makes the movement of the lights in relation to the scene and the players more faithful to what we see in the real world. Until now, this was a technology exclusive to computers, but it has now been accessed by other devices thanks to Nvidia's cloud processing.
The process is similar to what is done by emulating the GPU technology most basic desktops, such as Geforce's GTX line. Since it is cloud-based, it will work even if the devices do not have Ray Tracing-compatible technology.
PC games on your smartphone
Unlike platforms like Google Stadia and xCloud Gaming, from Xbox, which has its own catalog of games, Geforce Now is a service provided by Nvidia, Geforce video card manufacturer, where players access the games they purchased on Steam, Epic Games e Ubisoft Play to play directly from their smartphones and browsers.
According to users who tested the service, console and PC games such as Control, Watch Dogs: Legion and Metro Exodus were played without difficulty on devices such as the Google Pixel 3, which can be considered a mid-range smartphone by today's standards.
Furthermore, the stability of the fps rate is also constant on the device. According to Nvidia, if the user has a broadband connection of at least 15 Mbps, it is already possible to achieve 720p graphics at 60 fps. Connections of 25 Mbps are enough to run graphics in 1080p at 60 fps – in comparative terms, this resolution is even higher than that of a standard PS4.
Service is partially available in Brazil
Geforce Now already operates in countries in Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States through a subscription plan. In the United Kingdom, the monthly service costs £8,99 (approximately R$65). There is also a free version in which players can play for just one hour with the ray tracing feature disabled.
In Brazil, the service is partially available. Nvidia has partnered with a company that outsources server access in the country: ABYA. You must register on the waiting list to take the tests on the platform.
