Yes, Instagram will finally allow you to post from your computer

After having images last month showing tests on Instagram of posts of photos and videos by computer, the platform finally recognized that people need this functionality. This time, a spokesperson for the social network said that “to improve this experience, we are now testing the ability to create an Instagram feed post using your desktop browser.”

The good news comes with a Twitter post from social media researcher Matt Navarra. He appears to be one of a handful of people testing the new feature, and his tweets include more screenshots of computer screens of posts being made on Instagram.

Again, the form of post It seems to be quite complete, where you can see filter options, add images, drag and drop media to post, configure brightness, contrast and others. Navarra's posts show the feature of tagging people in the photo as well.

Stories and Reels haven't appeared yet

The Facebook confirmed the test in a comment to Bloomberg. From the images, both from last month, coming from mobile developer and leakster Alessandro Paluzzi, and the ones now, from Navarra, it seems that the people involved in the test Initial users are able to post photos and videos only to their main Instagram feed. The Stories and Reels features, it seems, remain tied to the smartphone only, if these latest clues are to be believed.

This new development certainly represents a big step forward for the photo-focused social network. Since its inception, Instagram has required users to use creative methods or third-party apps to create posts on its platform from their computers. Now, that’s a different story, although there’s no word on when exactly posting from a desktop browser will be possible for everyone.
