Smart homes are the future, and you can't have a smart home without a smart lock. And Xiaomi is one of the companies most interested in conquering its niche in this market. Under a crowdfunding platform called Youpin, the Chinese giant has paved the way for a lock that can be connected to the Mi Home environment.
Called A-Link Smart Door Lock, the lock follows some features of the MIJIA Smart Door Lock, with a modular design and a high-security smart lock produced by Berson. The smart hardware components are upgradeable and have an anti-drilling system.
The body of the smart lock Xiaomi It has dimensions of 365mm x 78mm and two different thicknesses, 22,5mm and 27mm. It is made to resist other types of interference, such as magnetic and humidity. Therefore, there is an isolation system with protection for the motherboard, coil and motor made both by the lock body itself and by the door.
Protection doesn't come cheap
The internal system consists of a double clutch assembly and a reinforced structure, with the purpose of preventing improper manipulation (by possible intruders) of the lock. Even so, the organization of parts is also done to facilitate handling in occasions of necessary maintenance of parts or component updates.
There are six locking and unlocking mechanisms that, in addition to working with a traditional physical key, can be activated by the network, Bluetooth, fingerprint, password or temporary PIN.
For the smart functions of the Xiaomi lock, it is necessary to use four AA batteries, which can work for a year without needing to be replaced, in continuous use. It is also possible to power it through a connector USB-C, which can be connected to an external battery to power the lock in times of emergency.
The product can be found on the Youpin crowdfunding platform for 1.999 yuan, around R$1.549, with deliveries scheduled for January 25, 2021. But for now, it is only available in China. This smart lock from Xiaomi is not yet available here in Brazil.
