August 4th, 2021

Market analysts have already been warned that demand for the iPhone 13 series will be high and, aware of the possible increase in demand for the flagship, Apple is negotiating with new suppliers. The idea is to have more companies producing the flagships, which are expected to hit the market between September and October of this year.

The recent report released by the website Nikkei Asia revealed that the new company that signed a contract with Apple is Luxshare Precision. It would be responsible for handling 3% of the demand for the new iPhones, with the rest of the production being divided between Foxconn and Pegatron, long-time partners of Apple.

Luxshare, even though it will be responsible for a small share, will have an important role by bringing two more companies into the fold of suppliers, working to meet the demand projected by Apple. According to the Nikkei Asia website, the production of the 3% will involve the participation of Cowell, from South Korea, and Casetek, from Taiwan. The former will supply the camera modules, and the latter the metal frames for the iPhone 13 line.

An executive of the Apple, on condition of anonymity, justified the company's choice of Luxshare. “Although Luxshare produces only a small percentage of the iPhones This year, we cannot let our guard down. If we do not strengthen our competitiveness, sooner or later, they will be the main source.”

BOE Screens

The expanded list of Apple of suppliers to meet the increased demand does not stop there. The report released this Wednesday (04/08) showed that Sunny Optical and BOE.

The former will oversee the manufacture of a small percentage of the rear camera lenses, while the latter will be part of the production of the displays, joining forces with Samsung and LG. The three companies will work to meet the demand for the 120Hz resolution displays that will be part of the family. The idea of bringing BOE into the range of companies responsible for the displays, according to insiders, is to increase bargaining power with Samsung.
