You can edit tweets in Twitter Blue, but only for the first 30 seconds

June 4th, 2021

O TwitterBlue, the paid version of the 280-character platform was launched in a testing phase in Australia and Canada, and one of the functions is a long-time request from users: the ability to edit their tweets if they detect an error — but only in the first 30 seconds after publication. The tool is the first in a set of features that will be aimed at the social network's paid users.

Costing a monthly fee of CA$3,49 and AU$4.49 (around R$17,55, based on the conversion rate of the date of this article), the service is part of the company strategy to achieve the goal of doubling revenue up to 2023. Recently the social network launched the possibility of contributions via Spaces, jar of tips, paid content by subscription and even business tools, but the scenario is not the best, since the company had a drop in 11% in shares in April this year.

When Twitter Blue showed up some beta users Last week, the possibility of, in addition to deleting or editing tweets, the social network offering ad-free browsing — or, in this case, sponsored tweets — emerged. Well, that's not the case. Subscribers to the exclusive package will continue to receive advertising on their timelines.

Not all inclusions are exclusive

In addition to the option to delete or edit tweets, Twitter Blue users will receive access to a “reading mode” for threads on the platform, which allows them to read threads like an article, and the option to list and save tweets. Both functions, it is worth noting, are available for free through the Threader and Tweetdeckrespectively.

However, the features that remain exclusive are the extra color edits and priority access to Twitter support. The social network does not promise that the priority will translate into faster ban and suspension reviews.
