How to set up your TikTok profile

So you gave in. You finally took a step forward and decided to join the fastest growing social network in the world. But where to start? Here: we will teach you how to create the account and how to configure it.

How to create a TikTok account

1. Download the TikTok app via Play Store or App Store.
2. Open the app, go to “Profile” (in the bottom right corner) and tap on the “Create account” option.
3. After that, you will have several options to create your account, using a phone/email, Facebook, Google email or Twitter. Choose the option you prefer.

It is worth mentioning that if you choose the first option (as I did in the example above), you will need to fill in some information, such as your date of birth. If you want to create a profile with one of the other options, you will only need to log in to your account normally through the chosen platform (Facebook, Google or Twitter).

How to change or add a profile picture

1. First, open your profile page.
2. Then tap on the “Edit Profile” option located below your photo and follower information.
3. Finally, tap on the photo and then select one of the options: take a new photo or select an existing one from your phone's gallery. Remember that photos must be at least 20 x 20 pixels.

How to change your username

1. To change your username on TikTok, the process is very similar to the tutorial above. Access your profile icon at the bottom of the screen.
2. Then select “Edit profile”.
3. In this tab, tap on the “Username” option.
4. On this new page, type the name you want, which can contain letters, numbers and periods (it needs to be an @ that is not already on the network).

How to Link Other Social Media Accounts on TikTok

1. As usual, access your profile by tapping the last icon at the bottom.
2. After that, tap on “Edit profile”.
3. Select the two available options to link Instagram or YouTube. Finally, log in to your account normally on each of them (example of Instagram in the last image below).

How to Change TikTok Language Preferences

1. On your profile page, tap the settings tab in the top right corner.
2. Select the “Language” option.
3. When the page opens, you can set the language of the app. You can also enable the option to display automatic translations of videos.
