If it's up to Amazon, parents may no longer have to worry about whether their children are going home. The company is developing a device aimed at Children public, which would have a built-in GPS locator in addition to other functions.
According to Bloomberg, the device could be in the form of a bracelet or keychain, like the ones AirTags from the rival Apple, and would be aimed at children from 4 to 12 years. In addition, the locators would be compatible with other Amazon features such as the Alexa assistant. The gadget would also allow parents to communicate with their children.
According to the report, the product was in development in 2019 and 2020, but there is no further information about its current status. It is worth remembering that Amazon has already had problems with privacy laws for products such as the Echo smart speakers, for example, which may be able to capture the sound of the environment. Because of this, the company would be taking great care with information about the new device.
Amazon and the children's market
The idea is that it has access to the internet and is compatible with content from Amazon Kids +, which offers children's books, series and films through a subscription, all of which are compatible with Amazon products, including monitors Echo Show.
Regarding the price, the article says that the bracelet codenamed Seeker could cost somewhere in the range of US$ 100 (around R$ 500 in direct conversion). In addition to the device, Amazon may also launch other products for children that interact with it, including a karaoke microphone.
According to Bloomberg, the Magic Band, bracelets launched by Disney for its guests in parks and hotels, would have been produced in partnership with Amazon. These devices are simpler than the Seeker promises to be, costing US$ 12 and serving as entry cards for rooms and other areas of the parks, but are mainly aimed at children.
Initially, the project was scheduled for this year, but as there is no new information about its development stage, it is not possible to know if there is a new forecast for the arrival of the AirTags for kids.
