A recent report from the company cyber security Trend Micro highlighted that Brazil is the second most vulnerable country to hacker attacks worldwide. According to the research data, only the United States had more threats blocked during the first half of 2023.
Trend Micro recorded blocking of approximately 85,6 billion threats worldwide during the period, which represents 59% of the total recorded in the previous year. The main targets of the cyberattacks were the United States, Brazil and India.
The report also pointed out that the method most used by cybercriminals this semester was malicious files, totaling 45,9 billion attacks, equivalent to 53,6% of all blocks carried out by the company in the first half of 2023.
In terms of the most affected sectors, industry topped the list with more than 10 billion attacks, followed by healthcare (9,7 billion), technology (9,5 billion), retail (7,8 billion) and government (6,4 billion).
Email attacks were also widely used by cybercriminals, accounting for more than 37 billion (43%) of malicious attacks in the first half of the year. The United States was the country most affected by this type of strategy, followed by China, the Netherlands, France and Russia.
