In the latest update released for the beta version of WhatsApp On Android, changes were introduced to the call tab interface and a new limit of participants to start a group call.
The main change is that the beta version of the app can now initiate group calls with up to 32 people, a considerable increase from the previous limit of 15 users. This new feature was spotted by Wabetainfo.
Additionally, the calls tab has also received minor tweaks. Call links, for example, are no longer displayed on this screen, which now only informs you of the possibility of making a call to one or more contacts. The floating action button has also been updated with a plus icon ('+').
WhatsApp already allowed group calls with up to 32 participants at the same time, however, users faced the limitation of selecting only 15 contacts at a time to start the call, having to add the others manually.
With this update, beta users can now immediately start a call with up to 32 people, removing this previous restriction.
To test these new WhatsApp features, it's important to note that they're only available to a limited number of testers using the latest beta version of WhatsApp on Android, which is 2.23.19.16. More users should receive these new features in the coming weeks.
