A Motorola is innovating in the mobile market with a concept phone equipped with a rollable screen, based on the Motorola Razr 40. Developed by Motorola's innovation group, known as 312 Labs, this expandable device offers a small and large screen at the same time.

The concept was officially unveiled at MWC 2023, demonstrating an innovative approach to foldable devices. The big advantage of this phone is that it doesn't need to be so big all the time. It extends the display only when necessary, such as to watch videos or read documents.

Motorola's design team created a screen that unfolds into a larger device, providing versatility for the user.

The device has undergone real-world testing following internal evaluations, and feedback has been positive. Users appreciated the smaller default screen for its one-handed usability and portability, and they also liked the ability to enlarge the display, Motorola reports.

The external testing has been valuable to the company, providing insights into improvements and strengths of the concept. Motorola is looking forward to more opportunities to put its products into the hands of users.

According to the manufacturer, the survey revealed that despite the popularity of large immersive screens, many users still miss the old smaller screens. This feedback was one of the motivators behind the development of this new rollable screen phone concept.
