After having great popularity since its arrival in Brazil, YouTube's Shorts tool could now be a source of monthly income for content creators. Created primarily to compete with the TikTok, the tool will have a kind of monetization to try to reach the views of short videos on the Chinese social network.

YouTube recently created a $100 million reward fund to pay YouTube Shorts creators throughout 500 and 2021. Monetization will also be available to Brazilians. According to YouTube, Shorts content creators will be able to earn up to $2022 per month. The best news is that the channel does not need to be generating revenue on the platform currently.

Today (03/08), YouTube posted a video explaining how the platform's rewards fund will work. Check it out below:

As explained in the video, payments can vary depending on the popularity of the videos. Therefore, the creator will earn according to how many people are viewing the content each month and in which region the audience is located.

The requirements for qualification

In addition to Brazil, to receive rewards, content creators must reside in the following countries: India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States.

Thus, to fill the requirements, creators must have uploaded at least one eligible Short in the last 180 days on the platform, must be at least the age of majority in each country (or have parental permission), and videos must be original, without watermarks or logos from other companies. In addition, of course, they must comply with YouTube's community guidelines and copyright and monetization policies.

Ao The VergeYouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan said the main goal of Shorts is to give creators a voice. “If a creator wants to do that through a two-hour documentary on a particular topic they’re passionate about, YouTube should be the place to do it. If they want to do that through a 15-second short that mashes up their favorite hit from their favorite artist, they should be able to do that,” Mohan concluded, highlighting the possibilities of YouTube.
