According to information posted by the leaker bald panda On Chinese social network Weibo, all Redmi K50 series phones will come with the chip Snapdragon 895, not yet officially announced by Qualcomm. Before that, however, the general manager of Xiaomi's subsidiary, Lu Weibing, had asked users what they expected to find in the upcoming Redmi K50.
Furthermore, the well-known leaker Digital Chat Station had leaked some possible technical specifications of the smartphone shortly after Weibing's post. In other words, despite having launched the Redmi K40 recently, with a version alternative focused on games and a version Ultra which is expected to arrive in August, the company seems to already be working on its successors. All of this perhaps indicates an early launch.
But instead of just mentioning the processor, the leaker claimed that the upcoming Redmi will also feature better cameras and faster charging than its predecessor. While he didn't give any other information about the cameras, the leaker did assert that the K50 will have 67W fast charging — which represents a significant jump and double the 33W of the Redmi K40.
K50 could be the first smartphone with Snapdragon 895
According to the information we have so far, the Snapdragon 895 most likely it will be the Qualcomm chip with 4nm transistors, leaked recently. In addition to the reduction in size, which has a huge impact on the final result, the new chip also surpasses the Snapdragon 888 in processing power and speed of the 5G.
If the Snapdragon 895 is indeed part of the Redmi K50 series, the phone is likely to be launched around December this year or January 2022. This is because Qualcomm has not yet officially announced its next chip, which usually happens in early December each year.
However, shortly after the release of the Snapdragon 888, in 2020, Xiaomi launched its Mi 11 with the new SoC (system on a chip). It could be that this will be repeated and the Redmi K50 will be the first smartphone with the new Snapdragon. Another smartphone that could debut the chip, however, is the Xiaomi Mi 12, scheduled for the end of the year. In both situations, of course, Xiaomi benefits.
