One way to send a WhatsApp message without having to add another person to your contact list is by using a link in your browser. On both your mobile phone and desktop, you can type https://wa.me/55DDDxxxxxxxxx, replacing where it says “DDD” with the region code (011, for example, for São Paulo). The sequence of “x” should be replaced with the person’s cell phone number. This link directs you to the link https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=xxxxxxxxx, automatically, with the numbers replaced by the contact number, as you replaced it. Let's agree that the first link is much easier to type. It is important to remember that only the numbers should be entered, without spaces or hyphens.

On mobile, the browser will offer you a button to converse with the person through the WhatsApp app installed on your device. There is also a link to download the app if you don't have it installed. On the desktop, when you click to start a conversation, the WhatsApp app for Windows or Mac OS will open with the contact already open and you can just send the message. If the app is not installed on your computer, just use WhatsApp Web, or install it by clicking on the link.

Group in common

Another existing method to chat with someone without increasing the number of records in your calendar telephone is if the person is part of the same WhatsApp group as you. In this case, everything is even easier.

For example, if you are in a group full of people and someone tells you that they are selling something that interests you, you can click on the number and select the option “Chat with…”. With it, you just need to enter the contact number in the specific field and the message, which can also be a media such as a photo or video. The app will direct you to a conversation on WhatsApp itself installed on your cell phone. For iOS, there is a similar app called Direct Message and another called EasyMessage.
