Sony Music has created an initiative to help bring music from Latino artists to Brazil and teach spanish through a portal. The Latin Filter was launched with songs and interviews with personalities from Latin America. All playlists on the site can be heard on Spotify and by Deezer through a link on the page and authorization in the profile.
The platform is in Spanish and, according to Sony, the goal is to better connect all of Latin America and introduce the language to other audiences. Singers from countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador and others are represented on the site.
In addition to music, the site also has an area for teach the language but to readers. In this way, people who do not know the language can have the chance to learn through songs. “The content in Portuguese will be presented with Spanish subtitles and the classes will be taught by a certified teacher,” says the description.
New Sony Music project
“Our goal with Portal Latino is to contribute to reducing the Spanish language barrier in a fun way through music. Overcoming these limits that language imposes on us goes far beyond entertainment. Spanish is the second most spoken native language in the world and is of enormous importance in international communication, whether commercially, politically or culturally,” says Maria Clara Guimarães, director of Sony Music Brazil and one of the creators of Portal Latino.
Filtr Latino also has a partnership with the website PapelPop, which will produce content for the platform in both text and audio through monthly podcasts about Latin content. Sony Music's Latin Portal will also have a YouTube channel.
Filtr is a Sony brand that has already been launched in several countries around the world. The model has recently become an entertainment platform, with musical and cultural curation. Filtr also has a store with personalized products, as well as other websites around the world.
