OnePlus has confirmed its new policy of updates to its smartphone portfolio, where the devices at the top of the scale received more attention. In its official statement, the manufacturer cited the merger with Oppo, which took place last month, as a key point in the decision to expand updates. In addition, the unification of the OxygenOS and ColorOS codebase has been confirmed starting with Android 12.

The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 9 series, the brand's latest flagships (including variants ending in T or R), will receive three years of operating system updates and four years of security updates. The current Nord, Nord CE and OnePlus 7 series devices have their software updates limited to two, with three years of security updates. Despite this, with these changes in the update policies of Chinese manufacturers (Oppo promised three years of software updates for their flagships Find X3), companies are showing greater commitment to ensuring security for their customers.
