A new update of WhatsApp Business Facebook Inc. will allow business owners to hide their business status on Facebook's messaging app. The feature, which is currently only available on the Android beta, was created for a specific reason: to prevent people from sending messages outside of business hours. They believe it could reduce potential issues between businesses and their users.

In addition to not revealing whether a business account is online or not, the WhatsApp beta update also allows business owners to hide the “last seen” information, which shows when the user last accessed the messenger.

Change aims to make life easier for users

According to Facebook, many companies use WhatsApp as their main communication tool, not only for promoting products, but also for customer service, customer service, among other functions. Thus, the removal of the last seen feature aims to make life easier for users by preventing a company that receives a lot of messages from being charged for not responding to users immediately, for example.

Changes to customer service aren't the only ones expected for WhatsApp Business in the coming months. Last week, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, announced that as is already done in Facebook and Instagram, the WhatsApp will also receive the store feature on the platform.

“We’re bringing Shops to WhatsApp and Marketplace to Facebook, which will make it easier for people to find the products or brands they want to engage with,” Zuckerberg revealed in a live broadcast on Wednesday (23/06). According to the CEO, the changes will be beneficial for businesses, which “will send the right messages to customers based on their purchasing behavior,” said the entrepreneur.
