Roblox was the most played game on smartphones during the first three months of 2021. The indication was made by App Annie – a mobile market research platform – which every six months provides data on the best mobile games. In addition to the title, Genshin Impact, Pokémon Go e PUBG Mobile are also on the list.

The survey results reinforce another recent survey that named Roblox as the favorite title among children in the United States in the last year. The game aims to awaken creativity, enabling the creation of worlds, adventures and personalized game dynamics for players.

The growing success has been lucrative for Roblox Corporation which recently opened its capital on the stock exchange and is already studying becoming an ecosystem with partner studios developing games exclusively for the title, including licensed titles such as the toy brand Hot Wheels.

In second place, the survey indicates the MMORPG Genshin Impact, from the Chinese company miHoyo. According to the survey, the game's cross-play aspects that allow mobile players to play matches with players from other platforms, such as consoles and PCs, make the title one of the favorite games.

App Annie's research also indicates that the mobile gaming segment is growing steadily. Between 2019 and 2021, the number of players increased by 31%. According to the research, the Covid-19 pandemic contributed to this growth.

The research platform also cites complementary apps for other platforms as a trend among mobile gamers. Apps from Steam, Nintendo Switch, Playstation and Xbox indicate a need among users to be constantly connected with the gaming community.
