In a video of approximately 7 minutes posted on YouTube, a relative of the victim showed the receipt with the date of purchase of the smartphone, to prove that it was still under warranty, and detailed what happened.

According to the report, the Oppo A53 was purchased in August 2020, less than a year ago, and was used by the owner, who is a driver, only to “make calls and surf the internet”. The heating problem, which would have caused the smartphone to explode in the user's pocket, would also not have been caused by the use of irregular accessories, since, according to the victim, he always used the charger that came from the factory with the Oppo A53.

The various images posted show the man showing off his pants, which were damaged by the smartphone explosion, and also injuries that were allegedly caused by the incident. Interestingly, although the pocket that was burned was on the left side of his pants, the victim had bandages covering wounds on both legs, both on his thigh and on his right ankle.

Oppo has launched the new version of Oppo A53 in India in April this year, has not yet commented on the incident, either to give an official explanation of what caused the smartphone to explode or simply to contest the version presented by the victim. The company is part of the BBK Electronics group, along with OnePlus and Realme, and its main attraction is the competitive prices of its cell phones.

Apple went through a similar problem

Having accusations about a smartphone exploding is not a “privilege” of Oppo and the A53. Apple, on two occasions, in 2021 alone, faced similar problems, and in different countries, after serious failures presented by the iPhone.

In March, a man in Australia started a process against the company after his iPhone exploded in his pocket. The accident happened in 2019, and Robert De Rose suffered second-degree burns. He didn't realize there was anything wrong with his phone until he felt pain in his leg, and then noticed that his device was making a strange noise.

Earlier last month, a man in the state of Texas, United States, also announced what is processing the Apple because his iPhone 6 battery exploded. In the 2019 incident, Hopkins County resident Robert Franklin suffered injuries to his eyes and wrist.
