YouTube is testing a new feature to allow videos to play in a loop: it is implementing a button in your app. Initially aimed at a restricted audience, tests should begin to be taken to more Android smartphones this week.

Although it is not present in the apps, the loop function has been present in the desktop version of YouTube for quite some time. However, the button is hidden in the options menu and few people know about its existence.

In the app, the feature should be placed alongside the controls for controlling playback speed and video quality, making it much more visible to all users. The feature is useful for those who want to listen to a song over and over again, without having to go back every time.

Although testing is progressing, there is no exact forecast for when the loop button will arrive on the YouTube app. Recently, the platform also slightly changed the format of the video quality setting, which now has more options.

In its beta version, YouTube is also testing a time-stamped commenting system. This allows you to mark a specific part of the video that you are commenting on, with a link that leads to that part. If available for your YouTube account, comments will be grouped together on the video timeline, with markers for viewing. The new mechanic may help to avoid spoilers, or even signal important moments in the content.

The platform seems to be having trouble deciding what to do with comments. Last year, the platform was testing dividing videos into subsections for better organization of content in lists. Last month, the platform also announced a new feature for quick responses in its app version.
