Motorola has invested heavily in the Brazilian market, with followed releases de new smartphones and the inauguration of the first concept stores of the brand in the world, in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Not surprisingly, the recent figures released by the company belonging to the Lenovo group showed that it grows year after year in the preference of consumers in the country.

According to the most recent report of the IDC Mobile Phone Tracker, Motorola grew 35% between January and March 2021 compared to the same quarter last year. This kept the company in second place in Brazilians' preferences, behind only Samsung, now with a 26,6% share of the country's cell phone market.

Growth was also high across Latin America, with Motorola posting a 67% increase over the first three months of 2020 and capturing 20,9% of sales in the region. “These results achieved in Brazil and Latin America are very important, especially in a period of so many challenges like the one we are experiencing. This is due to Motorola’s commitment to continue innovating to always offer the best and most complete experience for consumers at competitive prices,” celebrated José Cardoso, president of Motorola Brazil.

Affinity with Brazilians

Brazil is really a fan of the brand: in the rest of the world, Motorola/Lenovo not included among the largest manufacturers. Motorola's largest markets are Brazil, Mexico and the USA, in that order. According to Motorola, the choice of Brazil to open the brand's first concept stores is a result of the relationship between consumers in the country and the company, reinforced by the report that showed how much the company is growing every day in the country.

Also according to Motorola, Brazilian concept stores are also the first to receive the olfactory signature of the brand, the Blue Touch Tech fragrance. Created for Motorola by the Swiss group Firmenich – the largest private fragrance and aroma company in the world –, the fragrance also accompanies the packaging of the Moto G30 and Moto G100 smartphones.

Lenovo released on May 27th the full figures for the quarter and fiscal year 2020/2021. The report showed that the brand as a whole, as well as Motorola, grew in all regions in which it operates, driven by MBG (Mobile Business Group). Revenues increased 86% year-on-year, reaching US$ 1,54 billion. Profit, in turn, was directly impacted by Motorola, reaching a record US$ 21 million in the period.
