Spotify announced a price adjustment and with that, the monthly premium service fee will jump to R$20. It is still possible to save money on group subscriptions, either through Duo or a family package. But those who do not have this option may be entitled to an individual subscription for half the price, since the platform has a “half-price” for university students.
Access is equally complete: download for offline music, select any available track, and no ads. Spotify for college students is, in fact, the full premium service, but with a 50% discount for those currently studying for a degree. Those over 10 years old and affiliated with a partner institution are entitled to pay R$18 per month.
How to subscribe to Spotify for college students for half the price?
This subscription plan is not always advertised like other access options, but to begin with, you can click here to access the special subscription page. Those who have never used the paid version of Spotify will be entitled to 30 days free when confirming their subscription as a university student. In other words, the first payment will only be made in the month following the subscription confirmation.
The first piece of information to be confirmed in the process is your login. It is not necessary to register again exclusively for Spotify for college students. Once your credentials are confirmed, the platform will invite you to confirm your student status through the partner service SheerID. So, follow these steps:
- Log in via Spotify page
- Access SheerID via the link provided on the page
- Fill in your first and last name, and email address (if institutional, better)
- Confirm the country and name of the higher education institution
- Agree to the terms of use
Verification can be instantaneous if the educational institution is a partner and you are logged into the university's Wi-Fi. If you are not following this path, proceed to the following steps:
- If available, use the confirmation step by logging into your college's institutional portal. In it, use your credentials provided by the educational institution.
- If unavailable, use the document upload option
If everything went well, once you log in to your university portal, SheerID will have confirmed your identity and unlocked your reduced-price Spotify subscription. If you had to upload a document, you may have to wait a few days for your subscription to be released. You will receive an email with updates on the process.
How long can I use Spotify for college students?
After subscribing to Spotify for college students for R$10 per month, students can use the benefit for up to four years. There is a verification every 12 months, also through SheerID, so that the platform can confirm that the student's subscription is still active.
Graduates have a maximum period of 12 months to enjoy Spotify for college students one last time. This is because, as renewal is annual, the streaming service rechecks only once a year. In other words, those who graduate in December and renew their subscription in the previous month can enjoy the reduced price until November of the following year. Information is in the FAQ of the company itself.
