The beta version of Apple Music for Android is expected to launch with a HiFi audio streaming option. The information was discovered by the website 9to5 Google, who decompiled the latest update on the Google Play Store and checked the codes that make up the application. More than that, the inclusion of this option in this version 3.6.0 on Android indicates that the Apple Music HiFi will also be available on Google's operating system.

Also this Friday (14/05), the rumor emerged that the Apple Music HiFi should be made official by the Cupertino company next week with the third generation of AirPods. It is not yet known, however, what the price of the new music service plan will be. AppleOf course, it may not be released now either, so we can only wait and see if this rumor is true.

Apple Music HiFi is a new option for service users

Previously, the Apple Music only offered two quality options on Android: one with higher quality and one with reduced data usage. These were almost indistinguishable audio options, created only for users who wanted to save data when using the app outside of Wi-Fi.

In the beta version of Android, however, the Apple Music includes the amount of data used by HiFi audio storage. “Lossless audio files preserve all the details of the original file. Enabling this will consume significantly more data,” the warning says. “Lossless files will use significantly more space on your device: 10 GB of space will store 3 high-resolution songs, 1 lossless songs, or 200 tracks with high-resolution lossless.”

Unlike the iOS version, which has two audio specifications (Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio), the app on Google's operating system is restricted to the lossless audio category. More strictly, the beta version of Apple Music on Android offers two types of HiFi audio streaming: “lossless” and “high-resolution lossless”. In the default configuration, the user listens to a file with the .alac extension (which supports uncompressed sound) with a maximum frequency of 48kHz; in the most advanced configuration, the frequency reaches 192kHz.

Duel with Spotify and Tidal

Audiophile options on streaming services have become a battle of their own in recent years. Tidal has won a place in the hearts of audiophiles for its excellent sound quality (with the Tidal HiFi plan), which has led to Spotify's entry into this market. Now it's time for Apple, who doesn't want to be left behind in this new niche of music streaming.
