The most recent data from Counterpoint Research show the situation of the European smartphone market. The first quarter of this year brought good news for many companies, but especially for Realme, as well as Oppo, OnePlus and Xiaomi. All Chinese manufacturers.
Compared to the period from January to March last year, Realme grew 183% in Europe. However, this does not mean that its situation there is comfortable: the company's market share is estimated at just 2%. Therefore, even if Samsung grew "only" 13%, the South Korean company should remain satisfied with increasing its market share from 30% to 32%.
Despite the advance of Chinese manufacturers, Samsung and Apple follow ahead
The one who comes after the owner of the Galaxy line is Apple, which increased its share from 22% to 28%, representing a strong growth of 31%. Even so, in percentage terms, Apple and Samsung still lag behind in Europe — apart from Realme — Oppo (which shot up 94%, now with a market share of 6%), OnePlus (65% growth, with 2% of the market), Xiaomi (74% growth, and 18% share).
Despite China's partial rise, the fight for the top of the market is still concentrated between Samsung and Apple, which together hold 60% of the market. The closest of them is the owner of Redmi Note 10. Even so, two manufacturers from Xi Jinping's homeland are doing badly: Huawei and Honor. They fell 77% and 74%, respectively. Thanks to this, their market share shrank: from 9% to 2%, and from 6% to 2%. This is primarily due to the sanctions that the companies have suffered. during the Donald Trump administration.
Other manufacturers, combined, saw a 37% drop compared to the first quarter of 2020. Thus, their market share shrank from 16% to 10%. Overall, Europe, driven by Samsung's performance, Apple, Xiaomi, Realme and others, saw the smartphone market grow by 6%
