Oppo is working on a foldable smartphone already some time ago, But new information about the style of the Chinese brand's future cell phone released this Wednesday (05/05) pointed in a different direction than what had been speculated. According to the Arsenal leaker, famous for its hot tips on Weibo, the manufacturer wants to launch a flip-style flagship onto the market.
Oppo's idea would be to send the smartphone to the market to rival the future Galaxy z flip 3, which is scheduled to be made official by Samsung between June and July. The South Korean manufacturer, in fact, is one of the only ones on the market that works with foldable flip-style cell phones (the other is Motorola, with the Razr). The possible design of the smartphone would be the same as that rendered by the guys at LetsGoDigital in February this year.
Oppo's project
According to the leaker, Oppo's foldable flip phone would have hinges that would allow the image to be displayed at different angles, such as 30°, 60°, 90° and 190°. The manufacturer's idea would be to captivate, mainly, the female audience, largely due to the light and discreet design of the future smartphone.

The tipster revealed on Weibo that the foldable Oppo would be around 2 inches, which would expand to 7 inches when fully opened. The technology adopted for the screen would be LPTO, with a high refresh rate. There is, however, no other technical information regarding the smartphone or its future software or hardware specifications.
Another foldable that is reportedly being worked on by Oppo, in a very different design than the one mentioned above, could also arrive by July. This one, however, would have a triple folding and sliding screen, and could be called the Oppo Slide-Phone. Concept images were developed in partnership with the Nendo Studio, from Japan, and attracted attention. It remains to be seen which of the two projects will actually come to fruition and hit the market in 2021: the flip or the slide?
