For some time now we have been hearing rumors and information from market analysts saying that the Apple will adopt high refresh rates on iPhones. One way would be to obtain 120Hz panels with LTPO technology from Samsung for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.

Well, another portal is confirming that Apple has purchased many panels of this type from the South Korean company. LTPO technology could be an adoption that would balance the arrival of the 120Hz panel, since it has dynamic refresh and can work at low frequencies when the interface is not demanding many resources. This saves battery.

According to The Elec, Samsung will be the exclusive supplier of the 120Hz panels for the iPhone 13 Pro models. There will be 110 million screens for the initial stock. We previously heard that BOE and LG were also expected to supply displays to Apple. They are expected to deliver, together, 59 million of these, but for other models.

No high refresh rate on “affordable” models

If the information is completely correct, it would debunk the possibility of all iPhone 13s offering high refresh rates. And it makes sense: historically there has been a small distinction in features between the “affordable” models (in the case of the Apple, needs quotation marks) and the most advanced ones. Until 2019, for example, only the Pro ones had a full HD screen. Also, only the most expensive ones have an optical zoom camera.

In addition to the 120Hz panels for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, Samsung is expected to offer the circuits that connect the screen to the devices' motherboard. In other words, the partnership between the two companies, which in the domestic market gives the impression of rivalry to consumers, has only been getting closer at the industrial level.
