You know Google Play Music, that app that was once “dead and buried” for almost half a year, but it's still there in the root and, perhaps, lost in the middle of your list of applications on your smartphone? Then, thanks to a new update, you can now, (and should, since there is no reason to keep it), get rid of it once and for all, and make it disappear forever from your mobile.
Google has released an update that will allow users to hide the app or even uninstall it, something that was not possible until this Thursday (08/04), no matter how hard you tried. To “exorcise” your phone from Google Play Music, that had its glory days, however, it is first necessary update the app to version 8.29.9112-1.W, if this is not already pre-installed on your smartphone.
Long process
The process of getting rid of the deceased app is not as quick as it should be, as VC's report found. Once the necessary update is done, the message “Google Play Music is no longer available” will appear on the screen, followed by a suggestion for the user to migrate to YouTube Music, an application with improved functions and, of course, paid, unlike the now extinct Google player (one of the versions, at least, was free).
Whether or not you want to migrate to YT Music, you can then choose the best way to free up space on your Android: “Hide app”, “Delete all local data” or “Open app info”. The latter finally gives you the option to uninstall the useless app. google app, who insisted on appearing on his list.
For those who were used to Google Play Music, and still haven't gotten used to it, YT Music, even after six months without using the old app, some points deserve attention: the first is that YT Music does not play local music from your cell phone, if you still have the habit of storing MP3s, unless the songs you upload to it. Two, YT Music doesn't work with a closed phone unless you purchase the premium version.
