Facebook announced on Tuesday (06/04) that WhatsApp has entered into a partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote awareness-raising actions in the fight against Covid-19. According to the company, a sticker pack will be made available, in addition to the creation of a chatbot that helps by answering users' questions.
According to the WHO, to access the chatbot, users need to add the number +41798931892 to their contact list and send a message to it in the app. The service will then be available to answer questions and provide assistance. The services offered include updated COVID-19 numbers in the country, answers about the disease, travel guidelines, donation channels and an information area to combat fake news.
According to the companies, the chatbot can also be accessed through this personalized link. For Andy Pattison, head of the WHO digital channels team, WhatsApp’s support serves as a way to break down barriers and spread relevant information about the disease and the importance of vaccines around the world. “As COVID-19 vaccines are distributed around the world, this new sticker pack aims to encourage their acceptance and represent our hope,” comments the executive.
Vaccines for all
The sticker pack created in conjunction with Facebook is now available in the app's emojis and interactions area. Titled “Vaccines for All,” the pack includes a series of images demonstrating the world's love for the vaccine, with illustrations of people traveling again, having fun in groups, and celebrating the cure for coronavirus. In addition to the partnership with Mark Zuckerberg's company, WHO also has an app exclusively to combat the coronavirus.
The announcement by Facebook and the WHO comes on the same day that Brazil breaks yet another sad record for deaths from Covid-19. More than 4 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.
