The team Area 120 from Google, an incubator that develops experimental projects, announced Stack, a document scanner app. Based on the artificial intelligence system of DocAI platform, from Google Cloud, the tool applies enterprise technology to the user's personal organization.
Its operation is not, at first glance, different from other apps with this purpose. With the Android smartphone's camera, the user captures the image of what they want to scan. The difference with Stack is that, in addition to performing the function scanner, the Google app automatically names the documents. In addition, the tool identifies important information, such as dates and amounts, and suggests the ideal category (the team calls it a “stack”) for storing the scanned content.
By identifying the information to store the file, the app allows for agility and facilitates access when the user searches for a respective document at another time. Also in order to speed up the task, the person can enter the title or text content existing in the document in the search field.

In terms of security, Stack uses Google's advanced login technology. Extra protection for accessing the app on a smartphone can be provided via biometrics, such as facial recognition or fingerprint scanning. Another security-related feature is the automatic saving of documents to Google Drive. This also prevents them from getting lost if the person stops using the scanner.
The Google team responsible for Stack informs that the scanner app is in an experimental phase for Android and still has errors, but it is being improved daily. The tool is available at Play Store Only for the United States, at first. Depending on its success, the app may be released for other regions and for iOS soon, who knows… We are eagerly awaiting!
