Little by little, the generation of employment and income is heating up again in the rest of the world. In Europe alone, there was a 7% increase in job openings related to app development. According to reports released by Apple, which detail the increase in jobs, the main countries to benefit from the creation of jobs were the United Kingdom, Germany and France.

The App Store has become an “economic growth engine” around the world, according to the Apple, since it was created in 2008. And, in a sensitive moment like the one the world is experiencing, the app development universe shows itself as an opportunity for innovation, resilience and income generation.

Pandemic effect

Social isolation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic contributed to the creation of new jobs, as people became increasingly connected and increasingly dependent on apps.

Data from Apple shows that there are more than 330 jobs for app developers in the UK, supported by App Store sales – a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. Earnings rose 22% in 2020. In the iOS universe, there was also news in Europe, with a 7% increase in jobs for development and apps, with 1,7 million vacancies in the UK, followed by Germany (21%) and France (6%), with 2.500 opportunities each.

The most developed apps during this period were focused on studying, exercising, monitoring health, entertainment and ways to stay connected with people. The App Store currently has over 1,8 million apps, making it a good source of employment for developers and companies in the sector.
