All about the best cell phones

After copying Snapchat and TikTok, Instagram is getting ready to ride the craze of Clubhouse and its voice chat rooms, as we already mentioned in this post. The news is that we have some images of the new feature, and these screenshots show us what we can expect

But how will audio rooms work on Instagram? We don't know exactly yet, but the app Facebook is conducting internal tests to enable the creation of voice chat rooms in which users could converse freely without video.

The appeal of Clubhouse and its voice chat rooms

Many may wonder why it was already possible to create video conferencing rooms in Mark Zuckerberg's tools (WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram), but it is at least convenient that the social network's engineers are working on audio rooms right now.

It is reasonable to consider that, if it is possible to implement video chats, it is also feasible — and perhaps easier — to implement voice chats. But given Instagram's history, it is inseparable to see this movement as a response to Clubhouse.

According to an insider on Twitter, the new option would be available on the private messages page, through a microphone icon. Alessandro Paluzzi is famous in the industry for being able to anticipate new features in applications through the reverse engineering method, which involves browsing the source code of software to find sections that have been disabled by companies. Among recent discoveries, it was found that Instagram is also working on end-to-end encryption of messages, like WhatsApp.

Audio war

What the movement of the Instagram reveals that the Clubhouse market — for audio tools — is booming. The social network, by the way, is not the first to copy the new app of the moment, as Twitter had been working on the Spaces function on iOS now available for android Also.

It may be a pandemic-induced situation, but users seem to want to talk and listen more, and even though Clubhouse pioneered this trend, it still fails to have an Android version and, even on iOS, works exclusively with an invitation system. Alternatives are emerging, and with the companies behind them, Clubhouse had better be careful not to die early in the market.
