All about the best cell phones

After many rumors and a teaser from the manufacturer itself, the Meizu 18 and 18 Pro were launched. And the good news is that, counteracting a leak, both feature the latest in terms of Qualcomm chips: the Snapdragon 888. Thus, both phones are flagship products, with differences in physical dimensions, cameras and other small aspects.

Meizu 18 Pro

Meizu 8 Pro screen released in China

Starting with the most powerful model, we have a smartphone with a 6,7-inch AMOLED screen and 1440p resolution. The Samsung Display screen has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. This screen is also curved in four directions, giving the sensation of being more spacious and free of borders. There is also a Qualcomm 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader on the front, for quick unlocking with your fingerprint.

Ready for 5G networks — thanks to the Snapdragon 888 and the built-in X60 modem — the Meizu 18 Pro launched today (03/03) in China features a 4.500 mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging. It also provides power to other devices via induction of up to 10W. Its camera module will make many think it's a Samsung S20 Ultra, and well, it does indeed feature a Samsung sensor.

We talk about the powerful Isocell GN1, the main 50 MP camera with F/1.9 aperture. The ultra-wide has a 616 MP Sony IMX32 sensor with a 130º aperture, and the 8 megapixel zoom lens has 3x optical zoom, meaning no loss of quality. There is also a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor for depth. Selfies are taken by a 44 MP lens.

Finally, the Meizu 18 Pro can be purchased in 8 or 12 GB versions and with 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. The RAM is LPDDR5 standard and the storage uses UFS 3.1 technology, technologies that optimize available resources and are generally only used in top-of-the-line products.

The Meizu 18 arrives with the same 1440p resolution contrary to rumors, but on a more compact 6,2-inch display, also AMOLED and with a 120Hz refresh rate. Touches will be perceived faster thanks to a 240Hz scan. The curved finish on all sides is the same as the Meizu 18 Pro.

The biggest difference between the two products is the cameras: here the set includes a 682-megapixel Sony IMX1.6 F/64 sensor, with a 16 MP F/2.2 ultra-wide lens and a third 8 MP telephoto camera for 3x zoom. There is no depth sensor and the front camera has 20 megapixels. It's a more modest set — but still quite versatile.

In addition, the launched Meizu 18 features a 4.000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging, but without the possibility of lending charge to a device via induction like its brother Meizu 18 Pro.
