Less than a year after its launch, Clubhouse has surpassed the 10 million download mark, according to research released by consulting firm Sensor Tower on Monday (22/02). The numbers are emblematic, especially given that the app is only available to iOS users.
According to Tower Sensor, the United States is Clubhouse's top market, with 2,8 million of its approximately 10 million downloads (28% of the total). Japan comes in second, with 1,5 million, and Russia in third, with 784. Brazil ranks sixth, having surpassed more than 308 thousand installations in February.
“Clubhouse is the big social app of 2021,” said Craig Chapple, an analyst at Sensor Tower. “By being invite-only, it breaks away from the typical easily accessible social network model, making it an object of desire for those who aren’t already on it and are eager to see what they’re missing.”
Clubhouse is a voice-based social network exclusively for iPhones. The only way to access audio groups on the platform is through an invite from a member.

The app's competitors are already moving their weapons. Twitter recently released 3 invitations to try out the app. Twitter Spaces, its feature for audio chats. Similarly, Facebook is also already developing a similar audio chat product.
Created by Rohan Seth, a former Google employee, and Paul Davidson, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Clubhouse describes itself as a “more human social experience.” The app is currently valued at $1 billion.
