Twitter will release 3000 invitations to test Twitter Spaces, the audio chatrooms that rival Discord (and Clubhouse). The feature, which uses the same structure as Periscope for voice chat, entered the testing phase in December last year, and is already available on iOS, now in a broader test.
The platform's product lead, Kayvon Beykpour, tested the feature publicly on the social network today, announcing the new functionality. So far, only Twitter employees and close guests are taking part in the select beta testing group.

According to Twitter's clarification, Spaces audio rooms can now be checked in the devices of Apple. Any user browsing the social network on iOS can access the chats – which appear in the “Moments” tab. Each conversation will also have a link to access them.
Chatting on Twitter
Currently, conversations on Twitter's audio platform have a maximum of ten people speaking simultaneously, with no limits on listeners. The creator of the room on Twitter Spaces will be able to moderate which users can and cannot speak, remove them from the room, block them and even report them, just like on Clubhouse.
Once the room closes, the data will no longer be public and will be stored on the social network for 30 days to check for violations of the terms of service. Twitter says it will not store the conversation data, which also seems to be the case of Clubhouse. It remains to be seen whether, like its competitor, the feature will also not be banned in China for “too dangerous conversations”.
Although Twitter previously announced the How Spaces works on Android, it doesn't yet appear to be available on Google's operating system. The new rival to Discord and Clubhouse will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
