Netflix added the Samsung Galaxy S21 the list of devices with HDR certification on the streaming platform. The feature can only be accessed by Premium plan users. Thus, the new flagship line joins several devices on the market, which are also capable of displaying Netflix videos in HDR. At Samsung, the feature has been available since the S9 line.
The Galaxy S21 models were launched last month with screens 120Hz AMOLED with HDR10+, a specification that further increases brightness and color intensity by up to 1300 nits. In practice, the feature guarantees more vivid images for the user. The device is also the manufacturer's first model to maintain its 120Hz refresh rate, even in WQHD+ resolution (3200 x 1440 pixels).
Netflix has been offering HDR videos since 2016. However, adapting the technology to the wide variety of smartphone screen formats and standards doesn't seem to be that simple. The feature needs to be optimized for each device, which may result in delays in the availability of the function in relation to the launch of the models.
Oppo Reno 4 Pro will also support HDR
Netflix seems to be interested in reaching as many users as possible making the most of your content. According to Netflix, in addition to all Galaxy S21 models, the latest update also released the HDR function for the devices. Oppo reno 4 pro and TCL 20 5G.
