All about the best cell phones

After organizing a large demonstration in Washington that culminated in the brutal invasion of the Capitol last Wednesday (6), the President of the United States had your accounts on various social networks canceled or permanently banned. This movement led supporters of Donald Trump to begin encouraging the use of Parler, a service used by members of the far right that was blocked on Friday on Google Play and the App Store.

the networks social media is Trump's main tool and its allies to spread fake news. It was on Twitter that the American president said that Joe Biden had rigged the presidential election, even without the slightest evidence. Without access to these platforms, the group loses a lot of engagement in its initiatives, it was with this idea that they began to migrate to Speak.

Those who defend the use of the new platform say that Google, Facebook, Twitter and other large companies in the sector have created a “Big Tech dictatorship” (!) and that they are acting in an orchestrated manner to harm Trump. Parler, in turn, ended up becoming no man's land, full of fake news and extremist groups.

And anyone who thinks that Donald Trump is the only president in the world to use the platform is mistaken. Here in Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, an open supporter of the American president, asked his followers to create accounts on the social network and shared his profile.

Outside of Google Play and App Store

Despite this, Parler's future may be compromised, app has been blocked from Play Store and App Store for breaking store rules and encouraging the spread of fake news and violence. If the situation was already difficult, Amazon, the server where the platform was hosted, also excluded the company from its environment.

Google said the company needs to have a “robust moderation system” in place if it wants to return to the Android store. Apple gave a similar response and said that “we have suspended Parler from the App Store until they resolve these issues,” it said in a statement.

Amazon, which removed the social network from its hosting service, sent a note to BuzzFeed News saying that the platform failed to deal with the constant spread of incitement to violence and hate speech among its users.

Offline and insecure

At this point, the Speak remains offline and blocked. In an interview with the American broadcaster Fox News, the creator of the platform, John Matze, said that he has filed lawsuits challenging the block imposed by Google and Apple, but the lawyer representing the company left the case.

Matz also said he is looking for a new host for the service and that this could leave the network down for up to a week. “An attempt to completely remove free speech from the internet.” “This was a coordinated attack by the tech giants to kill the competition,” he wrote on his own (literally) social media.

Company executives also spoke to the Wall Street Journal, clarifying that they do not accept incitement to violence on their platform and that they intend to increase the number of moderators to remove users who violate Parler's terms of use.

The situation may be even more complicated. Reports on Facebook and Twitter say that service moderators leaked access to admin profiles, which would have allowed users to create accounts without needing to verify their email. The result may have generated thousands of fake logins. Yet another problem for those responsible for the company to resolve in the coming days.
