A reporter from China Security News claims to have collected information directly from Honor Mobile Phone Supply Chain Company (the company responsible for the logistics and supply chain for Honor cell phones) indicating the development of Honor cell phones with Qualcomm processors. These would be devices with 5G technology and chips from the manufacturer of the Snapdragon 888.

Everything indicates that this is because it is no longer a subsidiary of Huawei. The target of several commercial restrictions, Honor's former parent company cannot do business with the American company Qualcomm. Now free, Honor has managed to achieve more concrete business with other companies around the world. For example, with Qualcomm itself and with MediaTek, which, apparently, will be the supplier of Dimensity 1000+ chips for the Honor V40 series.

Market sanctions that have prevented Huawei from sourcing components from suppliers linked to the U.S. government are not affecting Honor as much. It became independent in November and intends to reach very high levels in 2021, even surpassing its own former owner. Among Honor's plans is the target of selling 100 million cell phones, increasing the current volume by 40%.

Given these circumstances and with greater freedom for stronger business with Qualcomm, a new high-end smartphone from Honor having a next-generation Snapdragon (perhaps a Snapdragon 888) becomes a very palpable possibility. Qualcomm's top brass has already shown great enthusiasm for Honor's separation from Huawei. Likewise, MediaTek has been seeking legal information to find out about supply conditions for Honor without creating problems with the current delicate commercial conditions.
