The year began with new information about the Moto G line of cell phones. The leaks bring details about the Moto G Stylus pen and suggest that Motorola would be preparing versions of the Moto G Play and Power with entry-level specifications for 2021. Devices are part of what would be the Moto G10 line and represent a new positioning for the company.

What the Moto G (2021) should look like

As expected, Motorola will indeed launch a Moto G with a Stylus in 2021. Leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) revealed on Voice Here are some renders of the new device. They show a mid-range phone with a 6,8-inch flat screen, a front-facing camera in the upper left corner, a compartment in the lower left that will be used to store the stylus and a 3,5mm headphone jack in the right corner.

The visual shown in the image shows a thin stylus with a circular finish, similar to an antenna at its upper tip. However, there are no details as to whether this detail is just aesthetic or whether it is an access button for other features.

In addition, on the back of the model it is possible to see a rectangular quad-camera panel, consisting of a 48 MP primary camera, accompanied by an 8 MP wide-angle lens and two 5 and 2 MP depth sensors and a flash at the bottom of the lenses. The selfie camera will have 16 MP.

The leaker also says that the Moto G Stylus 2021 will be around 169,9 mm tall, 73,7 mm wide and 8,8 mm thick (10,9 mm at the camera level). So, the device would be even bigger than the Samsung Galaxy Note Ultra 20.

The information, however, does not confirm the recent leak made by mistake by Amazon which indicated a Snapdragon 675 chipset with 4 GB of RAM and a 4000 mAh battery for the device.

Motorola is expected to launch the Moto G soon to compete with LG Stylo 7, scheduled to hit the market in February 2021.

Moto E7 Plus gives way to the new Moto G Play 2021

The Moto G Stylus wasn't the only one to have its new look teased on social media in recent weeks. Voice forum user, Nils Ahrensmeier also brought details about the new generation of the Moto G Power (2021). Motorola would be preparing more modest versions for the devices in 2021.

According to the leak, the 2021 Moto G Play is essentially a Moto E7 Plus modified. The device will come with the same chipset as the E7 Plus, a Snapdragon 460 with options of 3 and 4 GB of RAM, as well as 32 GB of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. The 6,5-inch screen with a notch and the fingerprint reader on the back also remain the same.

The cameras, however, have undergone changes: the E48 Plus's 7 MP primary lens will be replaced by a more modest 13 MP kit. The 2 MP depth sensor will be swapped for a 2 MP macro camera. The front camera will also be simplified, going from 8 MP to 5 MP.

Moto G Power with less battery

Another surprise revealed by the leaker would be the fact that the Moto G Power will come with less battery in 2021. The device will have a 4850 mAh battery, well below the 6000 mAh of the newly launched Moto G9 Power.

The announcement may be considered unusual, given that it is a lower capacity than expected for a device whose main attraction is battery life, and raises the possibility that Motorola may introduce some system optimization feature for the cell phone that compensates for the difference in charge.

The Moto G Power 2021 features a new design that differs from the previous one by bringing the camera kit to the middle of the rear of the device, consisting of a 48 MP main camera, a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro camera.

Despite this, the device will maintain the specifications consisting of the Snapdragon 662 chipset with versions of 3 and 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.

Devices equivalent to the Moto G10 line

The leaks and configuration of the 2021 Moto G coincide with last year's rumors for the Moto G10 line, indicating a change in Motorola's strategic positioning. Apparently, the company will abandon numbering to reinforce each model as a specific line of devices. Thus, the new Moto G Power, Play and Stylus of 2021 can be considered the successors of the G9 line, but without the expected G10 in their nomenclature.
