We know that in less than a week the long-awaited Snapdragon 888 will make its debut on a smartphone, Just as we know that he will also be present, at least partially, in the line Galaxy S21. By some irony of fate, Samsung's newest chip and also a component of the S21 in less priority markets, the Exynos 2100, apparently surpassed the processing power of the Snapdragon 888.
The information was released by the leaker Ice Universe, via Twitter, and obtained through the Geekbench website, which allows comparison between different processors. In the image of the tweet, it is possible to see that a single core of the Exynos 2100 reached 1089 points. In contrast, the chip's score when using its maximum power, that is, all its cores, was 3963.
Small but significant difference
Of course, the Snapdragon 888 results too impressed, but the chip was unable to beat the Exynos 2100 except in the single-core test, scoring 1135. In other words, in this regard, there is still a timid difference of 46 points.
In general use, however, using all the processor cores, the Snapdragon scored 3794. This means a more reasonable difference of 169 points in favor of the Exynos.
These results not only confirm another statement from the leaker, then seen as unlikely, when he said that the newest Exynos chip would be more powerful than the Snapdragon 888 (still called 875 then).
It is worth remembering that the tests performed do not evaluate real performance. In other words, the scores can vary a lot and perhaps the Snapdragon 888 performs better than the Exynos 2100 in specific and less artificial situations, or in other benchmarks. An indication of this is the fact that the Snapdragon 875 has previously surpassed the same Samsung chip in similar tests.
Either way, it's good news for the Samsung, which had not been able to compete with the processors of the Qualcomm. This may have been the reason why its smartphones have not fully incorporated Exynos chips so far. It seems that Samsung's efforts are paying off and it can, if not surpass Qualcomm, at least compete on equal terms with it from now on.
Furthermore, this will be a battle initially fought in the Galaxy S21 line, since both processors are part of it. In other words, fortunately we won't have to wait long to see which chip will be the winner.
