The release date of the smartphone Xiaomi mi 11 was announced for 29/12 and, as it gets closer, more rumors are emerging. The rumor of the moment, posted on Twitter by the famous Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station,  reveals that the Xiaomi Mi 11 will not come with an extremely curved screen on the side edges.

This screen is called a waterfall screen. Another piece of information is that there will also be no centered hole in the screen for the front camera. In short: it will have a very common front appearance, with slightly curved edges and a cut corner like seen in a previous render.

Would a waterfall screen really make a difference?

The lack of a curved display is unlikely to upset potential buyers of the Xiaomi Mi 11. It has plenty of cutting-edge hardware on board. The company has already confirmed that the Mi 11 will be its first flagship launched with Snapdragon 888 chipset .

The phone is also expected to come with a 6,7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz and 1440p resolution. That's something that not even Samsung's most powerful smartphones can offer yet.

Additionally, the Xiaomi Mi 11 is also expected to come with a dedicated MEMC chip that can, among other things, upscale SD content to HD quality. In short, this chip can upscale content that was recorded at 30 fps to 120 fps, so that it can perfectly synchronize with the 120 Hz refresh rate screen and achieve fluid movements.

Things get even more interesting when it comes to the cameras. An alleged Xiaomi Mi 11 spec sheet is circulating, claiming that one variant of the phone will come with a 192MP primary camera.

The Snapdragon 888 chipset can handle up to 200MP rear cameras. However, this will likely be restricted to the top-end Mi 11 Pro. The base Mi 11 could get a 3MP Samsung ISOCELL HM108 Bright sensor.

On the power management front, it can even host super fast charging technology. 120W, Xiaomi's own technology that was launched this year with the My 10 Ultra. So, would a waterfall screen make that much of a difference when it comes to purchasing? Leave your opinion in the comments.
