Two features that have turned WhatsApp into the leading messaging app on smartphones are: calls in audio and video will now also be available for the web version of the app. In other words: it will allow notebook and desktop users to also use the tools, available on mobile since 2015 and 2016, respectively.
According to website information BetaInfo, some lucky people have already had free access to beta version WhatsApp Web, which allows both voice and video calls from computers, as long as, as is already required, the device is connected to the user's cell phone while using the chat and messaging app. This, however, is nothing new for those who have been using the feature for a long time to facilitate the exchange of messages without having to type in the small letters on their cell phone.
How video calling works on WhatsApp Web
According to the detailed explanation from WABetaInfo, users who already have access to the beta version of the app that allows video calls on WhatsApp Web reported that the tool works. And, at first, they liked the new feature that, in the future, may be implemented for all users of the app, a fact that would put WhatsApp in direct competition with Zoom, a rival that “exploded” in downloads during the pandemic due to features still missing from the Web version of the popular “Zap”.

The new feature will not interfere with “normal” text conversations on WhatsApp web, since video and voice calls appear in separate windows, according to reports from those who used the beta version. The icons that indicate audio and video calls are located at the top of the screen and, once activated, “separate” from the main screen, indicating who you are talking to by voice or, alternatively, showing the image (in the case of a video call).
Initially, according to the first leaked information about the beta version, the WhatsApp Web video or voice calling tool will allow users to chat with just one person at a time. The idea, however, is to improve the functionality in the future, expanding the functions to allow more than two people to connect, via video or voice, simultaneously in the same call.
