In one interview with the website Input, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has not only confirmed the existence of a OnePlus smartwatch, but also hinted that the possible OnePlus Watch could run the Wear OS operating system. If this is indeed confirmed, it will be exactly the opposite of some predictions. The watch is expected to launch in 2021, and will possibly have a Cyberpunk 2077-inspired version, just like the smartphone. OnePlus 8T.

OnePlus' smartwatch project began in 2015, but was abandoned before launch. The reason for leaving the OnePlus Watch (or simply OneWatch) was to focus on the company's main product, smartphones. Now, however, Pete Lau seems to believe that the time is now more opportune for a OnePlus Watch.
In his words: “Wear OS definitely has room for improvement. What we’re trying to do is work with Google to improve the connectivity between the Wear OS ecosystem, Android TV and Android smartphones,” he said. “That’s the direction we’re trying to develop, and it’s something that’s been very positive on Google’s side, but we don’t have more that we can share at this point,” the CEO concluded.
