Now you can see what it would be like if a hippo walked into your living room, without the risk of being chewed to death. Google has just expanded its list of animals that can be seen in 3D in augmented reality (AR) on its platform.
This new round adds 50 examples of wild or domesticated animals that you can see in real size, and even inside your home. Some of the highlights: the fennec fox, typical of the Sahara desert, and the Ragdoll cat breeds (giant size) and Sphynx (the one that appears to have no fur).
Google doesn't usually release the full list of new batches of bugs, but Android Police listed 48 new animals.
In addition to real-life animals, the AR experience will also feature a unicorn. Google has already introduced prehistoric animals into its 3D experience. In partnership with Universal Studios, they made Jurassic Park dinosaurs available in AR in June. And depending on the year's festivities, you may even find mythological animals in your searches, such as the Easter Bunny.
But Google's educational AR experience doesn't stop with just animals. It is possible to see systems of the human body, such as the skeleton with the name of each bone, and components of cells, all in 3D. Other interesting things to see in augmented reality are the spacesuit of the first human to set foot on the Moon and the command module of Apollo 11.
For those who want more tips on animals to see in 3D on Google, some of the animals on the current list from the latest batch are: akita, beagle, border collie, bulldog, cane corso, coyote, dachshund, doberman, donkey, German shepherd, giraffe, hamster, spotted cow, bull, pitbull, Siberian husky and zebra.
