Days of struggle (mainly to swipe the card on that damn machine), days of glory. Among Us, the game of collaboration and betrayal that became a craze during the pandemic, won two important awards at the Game Awards 2020, Best Game for Mobile Device and Best Multiplayer Game.
On one hand, the awards may seem like a surprise, since the game came out way back in 2018 and didn't get much attention at the time. On the other hand, having to perform tasks to keep your crewmates alive while impostors try to sabotage the whole thing and stab you in the back is pure 2020 juice. Unfortunately, in the real world we can't throw suspects into outer space. This year the game's popularity exploded, in part because so many people were stuck at home because of the pandemic. But Among Us itself definitely deserved the awards at the 2020 Game Awards and left its mark on pop culture.

DID WE GET BETTER MULTIPLAYER???
Thank you guys. We are literally crying. You helped make this possible, and even though awards aren't necessary... it was really cool. Thank you for supporting the 4 of us.
And Among Us beat other big titles to take the trophy in the multiplayer category of the Game Awards, such as Animal Crossing, Fall Guys and Call of Duty. For fans of the game following the awards on Twitch, there was even a surprise: getting a mask of Geoff Keighley, the video game journalist who hosted the Game Awards 2020, to use inside Among Us.
During the awards ceremony, Innersloth, the game's developer, also announced a new map called Airship for Among Us, which is expected to arrive in 2021.
