Spotify is looking to establish itself as the world's largest podcast platform. To that end, the company has just launched a feature tailored to fans who are in a hurry: Spotify will allow you to cut out pauses and blank sections in podcasts.
The person who broke the news first was software engineer Jane Manchun Wong (@wongmjane). In her latest post on Twitter yesterday, she explained that Spotify plans to include a “silence trim” feature to remove all moments of silence from a podcast. The post came in a celebratory tone.

Other applications like Pocket Casts or the Google Podcasts that offer the ability to cut blank sections of podcasts.
In the last year Spotify has been quite competitive in its quest to become a leader in the podcast world. The music streaming service established its foothold in this market with the purchase of two companies in the sector. The company also signed an exclusive deal with Joe Rogan, a controversial figure who tops Spotify's most popular podcast rankings.
It is not yet known when Spotify will allow users to cut blank sections of podcasts. The expectation is that it will be soon, as the tool is already in a functional stage. It may even be that the feature arrives together with adding support for local music playback, a function also discovered by Wong this week.
