Due to the ongoing global pandemic, World HIV/AIDS Day (December 01) will be different. The non-profit organization (RED) has been mobilizing to donate the income it earns from its partnerships to the Global Coronavirus Response Fund. And as a partner in the cause, Apple has placed its (RED) products to support the fight against Covid-19.

Since 2006, the Cupertino giant has joined the international organization in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Over these 14 years, part of the revenue obtained from iPhones, AirPods, AppleWatches and other products in the (obviously) red color were donated to support the cause, mainly on the African continent. However, the coronavirus pandemic is interfering with (RED) programs. This is because HIV-positive patients are more vulnerable to Covid-19.

Apple Pay and donation

A UN Aids mobilized its board that organizes the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to create a fund that will guarantee funding for actions against the coronavirus and support the health systems of the countries assisted. Thus, (RED) is allocating the money it collects to this new system and counting on the support of partner companies, which is why the owner of Apple is collaborating by reverting part of the money from the sale of its red products to the fight against Covid-19.

In addition to the red products, Apple is contributing to (RED) through its payment system Apple Pay in the fight against Covid-19. For every purchase made with it, regardless of the amount, the American company donates US$1 to the global fund against coronavirus. And it is also possible to make a donation using the same service on the institution's website red.org.
