It arrived in July this year, but only now has the website DxOMark managed to evaluate. The OnePlus Nord and earned points for its numerous cameras. Getting straight to the point? OnePlus' mid-range smartphone makes good use of autofocus for static images, but the video, although it brings high promises in terms of settings, left something to be desired.
The technical specifications of OnePlus North impressive, considering that this is a device that doesn't compete with the top-of-the-line models on the market. The main camera sensor has a 48MP f/1.75) with optical image stabilization (OIS), followed by an 8MP wide-angle sensor, a 5MP telephoto sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. This package is rounded off by a dual LED flash and video capability in 4K resolution (30 frames per second) or 1080p (30, 60 or 240 frames per second).
It’s not the “peak of the mountain,” but it’s not the beginning of the climb either. And DxOMark recognized the good qualities of the OnePlus Nord, which scored an excellent 108 in the final evaluation of the website specialized in photography, which attributed to the autofocus an ambiguous characteristic that helped and hurt the smartphone…

OnePlus Nord: mid-range smartphone disappointed for video recording, but static photos performed well in specialized tests
OnePlus Nord: Autofocus is a double-edged sword
According to the website, autofocus is precisely what ensured crystal-clear and vivid still images on the camera. DxOMark highlighted that, although other models do more, with less effort, the OnePlus device manages to bring good light exposure and more defined contrasts.
Much of this comes from the autofocus, which unfortunately ends up working against the OnePlus Nord when recording videos, especially in shots without much stabilization (like those taken when you're moving the camera) or in low-light environments.
“A score of 108 doesn’t quite live up to the standards set by its more expensive sibling, the OnePlus 8 Pro, but it’s a respectable showing for a mid-range device,” DxOMark said. “The OnePlus Nord received a solid score of 117 for photos, with good results for exposure, color, autofocus, and texturing, but its points were let down by poor bokeh and night shots.”
