Google Fit has received a major update that has revamped the way the health app delivers information relevant to your workout results.

Google Fit hasn’t seen such a major change since 2018, when it introduced a new design and added the “heart points” scheme. Now, it has reorganized the home screen to include more information in the activity summary, prioritizing overall benefits over final data.

“In addition to seeing a quick summary of your metrics on the home page, you’ll also be able to see how close you are to your daily and weekly step and Heart Points goals, check out your most recent workout, and stay up to date with your heart rate, weight, and blood pressure over time,” Google said in its announcement, confirming that it will now also be easier to share your results with your friends.

When it comes to sleep tracking, Google Fit has not yet gained this ability in the recent update. Although it does not do it natively, the app has expanded its integration with third-party devices for this purpose: smartwatches Fossil's smart rings, Oura and apps like Sleep as Android will display, via Google Fit, various monitoring information and specific goals to improve your sleep.

Broadly speaking, Google Fit still seems to be a bit behind its competitors. Health, on Google's iOS devices, Apple, for example, has been doing all of this for a while now. However, it's interesting to see that Google hasn't forgotten about its line for fitness enthusiasts, so this could be a good option if you want to start exercising and measuring results electronically.

The Google Fit update will be available on the Play Store “in the coming days.” There is no information yet about this update arriving on iOS.
