It's official! You can now make short posts on Twitter. The social network has announced the global launch of Fleets, a feature that was made available in March of this year as a test for some countries including Brazil. Just like Instagram Stories, Fleets keeps posts live for only 24 hours.
According to Twitter, “Fleets are used to share momentary thoughts – they help start conversations and last only 24 hours.” Tests conducted in Brazil, Italy, India and South Korea showed that users felt more comfortable participating in conversations through Fleets. This is most likely due to the temporary duration of the chat, avoiding the risk of something becoming eternal on the networks.
In Fleets, you can share texts, reactions, photos or videos, as well as personalize your tweets with different backgrounds and fonts. Going beyond Fleets, Twitter is testing give users the chance to create audio rooms, like those on Discord.
Easy to use
To use Fleets, when you tweet, click “share” at the bottom and select “share to a Fleet.” According to the Twitter, new features will soon be added to the feature, such as stickers and live broadcasts. In addition, Fleets also do not have the RT (Retweet) function, as well as likes and public comments, which helps maintain a certain level of privacy for the user to express themselves as they wish.
Brazil was a pioneer
As I mentioned before, Brazilians are among the largest audiences on social media, and so we were one of the countries chosen by Twitter to test the new feature in a pioneering way in March of this year. Fleets were made available for use only through the Twitter app. Today, the company announced that Fleet will now be a dialogue and posting option for the entire world, and that it should be available for use in the next few days.
O new feature can be used on Twitter for iOS and Android.
