Oppo's impressive 125W charger, announced a few months ago, has been given a release date. It was expected that more information would emerge about this charger, since the Oppo Inno Day is approaching. Digital Chat Station, on the social network Weibo, revealed that the charger will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2021.
The news comes alongside the launch of another super charger, but from a rival company: the 120W charger from Xiaomi, which significantly surpassed Oppo's previous 65-watt model. In fact, Xiaomi recently announced that it would invest in a 200W charger, which will likely launch in 2021, like Oppo's charger. When it revealed its ultra-fast charger, Oppo also announced the 65-watt AirVooc wireless charger, but they haven't said yet whether the two will have the same release date.
Oppo announced at the time that its 125W charger would be able to charge a 4000 mAh battery in about 20 minutes. In addition, it would be able to charge 41% of the same battery in just five minutes. A common concern when using a charger with high speeds is the temperature, both of the charger and of the smartphone it is charging.
Because they have greater power, these chargers usually heat up more than their regular versions. This was a problem that hit the 120W charger from Xiaomi, mentioned above. To avoid problems, Oppo has added ten temperature sensors to its super charger, in order to offer better safety to users.
With Oppo Inno Day approaching, it may be that a more specific release date will be announced and that we will know if the wireless charger will be released on the same date.
