With the goal of boosting its numbers, Instagram has highlighted the Reels and Shop functions with tabs for each on the home page. According to the social network, the change was made with the consumption habits of the audience that uses the app the most in mind.

Market possibility

One of Instagram's goals is to generate numbers and income with audio and video content production, mainly entertainment, and with the promotion of products and services. And one of the ways to achieve these rates is with trends launched by influencers.

Based on this thinking and a recent survey, the social network updated its home page on the app. In addition, the company wanted to take advantage of the moment when both the use of social networks for entertainment and shopping has increased due to the pandemic. Thus, Instagram highlighted Reels and the Shop, two of the functions that are currently the focus of the app.

In the Reels, you can easily find short videos on a variety of topics, including entertainment, lifestyle, tips, and DIY. In the Shop tab, users can buy products from small businesses and find or learn about new products. This is because the tab contains content from creators, trend recommendations selected by the Instagram Shop team, personalized recommendations, and more.

How it turned out

The app's interface now has five tabs on its bottom bar. The first is Home, followed by Search, Reels, Store and Profile. The tabs for uploading a new photo and checking notifications have been moved and are now next to the chat. In fact, the chat icon has changed and is now the same as Facebook's (the company that now owns the social network).
